If you’re looking for a photography trip that combines dramatic landscapes, time to develop your skills and the support of a welcoming group of women, this one is well worth a look. I’m really pleased to share that Emily Endean and I will be leading a brand new SheClicks photography workshop in Madeira from 18th to 25th April 2027.
This is an 8-day, women-only photography experience designed to help you grow your confidence and creativity while exploring one of Europe’s most visually striking islands in pleasantly warm temperatures.

Madeira is an incredible place for photography. You can go from rugged volcanic coastlines and towering sea cliffs to misty forests and mountain viewpoints above the clouds in a single day.
Over the course of the week, we’ll visit a carefully chosen mix of locations, heading out for sunrise and sunset shoots whenever possible to make the most of the light. From the sea stacks at Ribeira da Janela to the atmospheric Fanal Forest and the high peaks of Pico do Areeiro, there’s plenty of variety to keep things inspiring.
We’ll be based in Funchal throughout, staying at a comfortable 4-star hotel, which gives us a relaxed base while we explore the island.

This isn’t just about visiting beautiful places, it’s about helping you make the most of them.
Emily and I will be there throughout the trip to offer practical advice, creative ideas and encouragement, whether you’re working on composition, long exposures or just getting more comfortable with your camera.
Just as importantly, you’ll be part of a group of women who all share a love of photography. That sense of community, support and shared experience is a big part of what makes these trips so enjoyable.
All experience levels are welcome.

• Dramatic coastal cliffs, waterfalls, forests and mountain landscapes
• Sunrise and sunset shoots in some of Madeira’s most photogenic locations
• A mix of landscape and street photography, including time in Funchal

The trip runs for 8 days and 7 nights, with a balance of early shoots, relaxed downtime and opportunities to review and develop your images.

If you’re looking for something a little closer to home, our Birmingham weekend workshop (13-14th June 2026) is a great option. It’s a shorter, and at £449, more accessible break here in the UK, focused on creative city photography, with plenty of time to explore techniques like multiple exposure and black-and-white photography in a relaxed, supportive setting.

If you’re dreaming about a real adventure, we’ve also recently launched our Kenya Wildlife Safari Photography Workshop (6th–13th November 2027). It’s an eight-day, women-only trip to the Masai Mara, co-led by wildlife photographer Ann Aveyard and me, with immersive game drives, expert guidance and time to really slow down and photograph wildlife with intention. It’s a very different experience to Madeira, but just as special.
