Canon has announced the new Canon EOS R6 V alongside the Canon RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ, introducing a new full-frame system aimed at video-first creators and hybrid shooters. The launch also includes a refreshed tripod grip and Bluetooth remote, plus a new adapter kit for Canon’s Macro Twin Lite flash system.
As part of Canon’s relatively new EOS V series, the EOS R6 V is designed for creators who want advanced video features in a relatively compact body. Canon describes it as its smallest full-frame camera with in-body image stabilisation, weighing 598g body-only or 688g with a battery and memory card installed.

The EOS R6 V uses a 32.5MP full-frame sensor and can record 7K RAW video at up to 60p, oversampled 4K up to 60p, 4K up to 120p and 2K up to 180p. Open Gate recording is included, allowing creators to crop to create both horizontal and vertical formats from a single clip during editing. Canon Log 2 and Canon Log 3 are also available, with Canon claiming up to 15+ stops of dynamic range when using Canon Log 2.
Canon has equipped the camera with 5-axis in-body image stabilisation rated at up to 7.5 stops, along with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II featuring subject detection for people, animals and vehicles. Eye Detection AF and Register People Priority are also supported.
Although clearly designed with video in mind, the EOS R6 V also offers stills shooting at up to 40fps using the electronic shutter. There is no mechanical shutter, but Canon says flash support will be added through a future firmware update.
The body design borrows heavily from the EOS R50 V and Cinema EOS C50, but with a smaller, lighter construction than the cinema camera. Features aimed at solo creators include a front record button, vari-angle screen, vertical tripod socket and vertical user interface. The camera also includes active cooling, four-channel audio recording, full-size HDMI and USB-C streaming support up to 4K 60p.

The RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ is Canon’s first full-frame RF L-series lens with built-in power zoom technology. Designed for hybrid creators, it combines a constant f/4 aperture with a useful 20-50mm focal length range that should suit vlogging, interiors, travel and general filmmaking.
The lens uses Nano USM motors to drive the zoom mechanism and the power zoom can be controlled from the lens itself, from compatible camera bodies with a zoom lever, or remotely using Canon’s Camera Connect app. Even in manual zoom mode, the zoom action remains electronically controlled.
Its optical design comprises 13 elements in 11 groups, including two glass-moulded aspherical elements and three UD elements. Canon has also included Air Sphere Coating and focus breathing suppression to help deliver more consistent-looking footage during focus pulls and zooming.
The Canon RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ weighs 420g, accepts 67mm filters and offers up to 6 stops of optical stabilisation, or up to 8 stops when paired with a compatible camera featuring in-body stabilisation. Its closest focusing distance is 24cm and the maximum magnification is 0.33x.

Canon has also announced the HG-200TBR tripod grip and BR-E2 Bluetooth remote. The grip can be used as either a handheld support or compact tripod and supports equipment weighing up to 1kg.

The updated BR-E2 remote adds a dedicated video record button, a two-stage shutter button for stills shooting, a control lever that can be assigned to zoom or exposure compensation, plus two customisable function buttons. Up to five cameras can be paired with the remote, although only one can be controlled at a time.

Canon has also announced the AD-E1 MA adapter kit, which enables the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT flash to be used with a wider range of RF lenses. The kit includes three lens-specific adapters for the RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM, RF 24mm F1.8 Macro IS STM and RF 50mm F1.8 STM.
Alongside the hardware launches, Canon has confirmed new firmware updates for several EOS mirrorless cameras, including the Canon EOS R1 and Canon EOS R5 Mark II. The updates add usability improvements, expanded customisation options and broader 5GHz Wi-Fi support.
The Canon EOS R6 V will cost £2,399.99 body-only.
The Canon RF 20-50MM F4L IS USM PZ is priced at £1,439.99.
A kit containing the EOS R6 V and RF 20-50MM F4L IS USM PZ will cost £3,549.99.
Canon says sales of the camera and lens are due to begin on 24th June 2026.
The HG-200TBR tripod grip with BR-E2 remote is priced at £149.99, while the BR-E2 remote on its own costs £74.99. The AD-E1 MA macro flash adapter kit is expected to cost around £199, but that has yet to be confirmed.
