Sigma has announced the 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary, a compact telephoto zoom for APS-C mirrorless cameras. It has also confirmed that its 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary will be available in Nikon Z mount.
The new Sigma 50-120mm offers a constant F2.8 maximum aperture and optical image stabilisation, while the Nikon Z version of the 16-300mm gives photographers a broad focal length range for subjects from landscapes to wildlife.

Available in Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon RF mounts, the Sigma 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary gives a focal length range equivalent to 75-180mm on Sony and Fujifilm APS-C cameras, or 80-192mm on Canon APS-C cameras.
That range makes it a useful option for portraits, details and picking out subjects within a wider scene. Its constant F2.8 maximum aperture also gives scope for separating a subject from its background and maintaining the same aperture setting as you zoom.
The lens weighs 390g in Sony E and Fujifilm X mounts, or 410g in Canon RF mount. The Sony version measures 99mm in length and uses 55mm filters.
It joins Sigma’s existing 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary and 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary lenses, creating a three-lens APS-C zoom kit with a constant F2.8 maximum aperture. Sigma says the three lenses together weigh less than 1kg.
The autofocus is driven by Sigma’s HLA linear motor and, according to CIPA guidelines, the optical stabilisation is rated at 6.5 stops at 50mm and 4.5 stops at 120mm.
For close-up photography, the lens can focus at 23cm at its widest setting, giving a maximum magnification of 1:3. At 120mm, the minimum focusing distance is 55cm and maximum magnification is 1:4.7.
Sigma has also designed the lens to minimise focus breathing, helping to keep framing more consistent when changing focus during video recording. It has a dust- and splash-resistant construction, plus a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element.
The Sigma 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary has a recommended retail price of £699. It will be available in Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon RF mounts from 22 October 2026.

Sigma’s 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary is coming to Nikon Z mount, giving Nikon APS-C mirrorless photographers an all-in-one zoom with an approximately 18.8x zoom ratio.
On a Nikon APS-C camera, its focal length range is equivalent to 24-450mm. This could appeal to photographers who want to shift between wide views, portraits and distant subjects without changing lenses. It should be particularly popular for travel.
The lens also offers a maximum magnification of 1:2 at 70mm, giving half life-size close-ups.
Its HLA linear motor drives the autofocus, while the optical stabilisation is rated at 6 stops at the wide end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end.
Sigma has developed autofocus drive and communication settings specifically for the Nikon Z mount. The lens supports continuous autofocus and in-camera aberration correction on compatible cameras, and the mount is rubber-sealed.
The Nikon Z version weighs 630g, measures 125.4mm in length and takes 67mm filters.
The Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary in Nikon Z mount has a recommended retail price of £599. It will be available from 5 November 2026.
