Long Exposure and Multiple Exposure on the Jurassic Coast, 28–29th March 2026

Color version of a curved stone pier extending into pale green water under an overcast sky.

This is a women-only weekend workshop, a collaboration between SheClicks and Wilde Photography Academy.

Join us for a relaxed but creatively focused weekend on the stunning Jurassic Coast, exploring long exposure and multiple exposure photography in some of Dorset and Devon’s most photogenic coastal locations. Over two days, we’ll work in and around Lyme Regis, Seaton and Beer, using the movement of the sea, coastal textures and shifting light to create expressive, layered images.

This workshop is designed for women who want to slow down, experiment, and build confidence with creative techniques in a supportive, friendly environment.

Locations

Lyme Regis

Harbour inlet with stone walls and waterside buildings, water smoothed by long exposure.
Rich in coastal character, Lyme Regis offers dramatic views, layered rock formations, the iconic Cobb and attractive buildings. The changing tides and wave patterns make it an excellent location for expressive long exposures.

Seaton

Wide view of a pebble beach and groyne under heavy clouds, long-exposure water forming a pale channel to the sea.
This relaxed seaside town sits on the east Devon coast and is known for its long pebble beach. Seaton Harbour, where the River Axe meets the sea, creates additional opportunities for both long exposure and multiple exposure work.

Beer

Two striped deck chairs on a pebble beach facing the sea, shot low with soft focus stones in the foreground.
A charming fishing village with chalk cliffs, working boats and beautifully weathered textures. Beer lends itself particularly well to more abstract and creative interpretations of the coastline.

What’s Included

Participants will need to make their own way between locations. Car sharing can be arranged once the group has met.

Please note that accommodation is not included in the price.

Weekend Itinerary

The schedule may change slightly depending on the weather and light conditions.

Day 1 – Saturday 28th March

10:00 am – Meet in Seaton

We’ll start with a warm welcome and introductions, followed by an exploration of beach photography basics. The morning focuses on identifying subjects suited to multiple exposure work, including patterns in shingle, reflections, water movement and coastal textures.

Long Exposure with the Waves

Learn how to create soft, flowing movement in the sea using slower shutter speeds. This session covers tripod setup, using ND filters, choosing shutter speeds for different sea conditions and composing effective seascapes.

Sunset Long Exposure Session

As the light fades, we’ll capture dreamy water movement, subtle colour and gentle coastal tones at the end of the day.

Day 2 – Sunday 29th March

Sunrise Long Exposure

An early but peaceful start, working with slow shutter techniques in soft morning light. You’ll also learn how long exposures can be combined into layered multiple exposure images.

Beach Huts & Textures

Working in Seaton, Beer or Lyme Regis, depending on the conditions, we’ll focus on colour, texture and detail in beach huts, boats and natural surfaces.

We will finish at around 3:00 pm.
