Meet-up in Brighton, UK
12:30 Saturday 1st February, 2025
This meet-up is hosted by Sarah Williams and Connie Kinley, please meet them at India Gate (North Street), Brighton Royal Pavilion (BN1 1FN) at 12:30.
The main purpose of the meet-up is to photograph the starling murmurations at sunset; however, we plan to take advantage of the many other photographic opportunities in Brighton by meeting at 12:30.
After we meet initially, there will be time to photograph around the Pavilion gardens, the Lanes or the beach before we meet again at 15:00 for a cuppa at ‘Oh So Social’ by the pier (250a Kings Road BN1 1NB). Afterwards, we go together to photograph the murmurations, both on the pier and on the promenade. The starlings fly around 30 minutes before sunset and finish just after the sun has set.
Transportation: The Orange (Churchill 1) carpark is located at BN1 2RU and is fully wheelchair accessible, but expensive: 6-8hrs £20. There are other car parks but prices are similar. There is a Park & Ride at Withdean Sports Complex (BN1 5JD) which is free and buses cost £5.50 into town. We are happy to organise car-sharing, so please post any requests here.
Brighton is very accessible by train and the station is an easy walk to the Pavilion and seafront.
Camera gear: long lenses are not necessary, depending of course on what you want to shoot. Landscape lenses or wide-angle lenses and lenses for street photography may be useful. Tripods are allowed on the pier, or you could consider a beanbag, but neither is essential if it’s light enough and it can be quite crowded.

No meet-up in your area?
Why not host a meet-up? Hosting a meet-up is easy. Just decide where you would like to photograph, pick a date and time, and then email Angela to receive a form to complete to let her know the details. Then all you need to do is be there at the appointed time.
Locations with good transport links, easy access to toilets and a convenient place for tea/coffee, snacks and/or lunch are usually favoured.
