DJI has introduced a new Lito series of drones, aimed at those taking their first steps into aerial photography. Announced on 23 April 2026, the DJI Lito X1 and Lito 1 are designed to offer a straightforward way to start filming and photographing from above, without the complexity that often comes with more advanced drones.
The idea behind the Lito range is simple. Make aerial imaging easier to get into, while still offering the tools people need to create good quality content. Both models bring together practical features, built-in safety and automated shooting modes, which should appeal to beginners as well as younger creators documenting everyday life.

The Lito X1 sits at the top of the range. It uses a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with 48MP resolution and supports HDR video with up to 14 stops of dynamic range. There is also 10-bit D-Log M for those who want more control when editing. The Lito 1, which is the more affordable option, uses a 1/2-inch 48MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. It supports up to 8K photos and 4K video, offering plenty of detail for social and creative use.

Both drones include omnidirectional obstacle sensing, which helps detect objects such as walls, cliffs and trees while flying. This should make a noticeable difference for those who are building confidence with flying a drone. The Lito X1 adds forward-facing LiDAR, giving it a more precise way to understand its surroundings, particularly in more complex spaces.
There are also several intelligent shooting modes included. ActiveTrack allows the drone to follow a subject, even when it is moving at speed. Alongside this are QuickShots, MasterShots, Hyperlapse and Panorama, which automate camera movements and help users capture more dynamic footage without needing advanced flying skills.
Battery life is up to 36 minutes with the standard Intelligent Flight Battery, and both models are designed to handle wind speeds of up to 10.7 m/s. Wi-Fi 6 is supported for transferring files with speeds of up to 50 MB/s. The Lito X1 also includes 42GB of internal storage, which adds a bit of flexibility.
The Lito series is an interesting introduction considering that DJI already offers entry-level models like the Neo, Mini 4K, Mini SE and Flip. Nevertheless, it opens the door to aerial photography in a way that feels manageable, while still offering enough features to keep things interesting as skills develop.
