Fujifilm GFX100RF Price, Specification, Availability Announced

The Fujifilm GFX100RF in Angela Nicholson's hands

Fujifilm has announced the GFX100RF, a groundbreaking addition to its GFX medium format camera lineup. This new model offers a 102MP medium format sensor in a stylish, rangefinder-style body, making it the most compact and lightweight GFX camera to date. Designed for street and documentary photographers, the GFX100RF features a fixed 35mm f/4 lens (28mm equivalent in full-frame terms), a built-in four-stop ND filter and an aspect ratio control dial to encourage creative framing.

While it has the styling of a classic rangefinder, the Fujifilm GFX100RF is not a true rangefinder camera. Instead, it features a high-resolution 5.76-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, similar to some modern mirrorless cameras and a modern autofocus system. The fixed Fujinon 35mm f/4 lens, designed specifically for the camera, incorporates two aspherical elements to reduce distortion, along with a Nano-GI coated element to minimise ghosting and flare.

For photographers who appreciate different framing options, the GFX100RF has a variety of aspect ratios, including 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 65:24, 17:6, 5:4, 7:6, 1:1 and 3:4. A dedicated dial allows for quick and intuitive switching between formats, ideal for those who shoot with a strong focus on composition.

Despite its large sensor, the Fujifilm GFX100RF is surprisingly lightweight at just 735g with the battery and a memory card, making it more portable than many full-frame mirrorless setups. Its compact size, combined with an aluminium top plate and weather-sealed construction, makes it well-suited to photographers who need a durable yet discreet camera.

Fujifilm’s colour science is another major selling point, and the GFX100RF includes 20 Film Simulation modes, from the vibrant Velvia to the nostalgic Classic Neg and Reala Ace. This means photographers can create striking images straight out of the camera, reducing the need for extensive post-processing.
