Meet-up in Edingburgh for a Photo Walk and to see Shona Perkins Exhibition
11:00 Sunday 1st December, 2024
This meet-up is hosted by Pamela Cook, please meet her inside Costa Coffee - Unit P1/P2 Princes Mall, 3 Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh
Pamela says, 'Exact times and locations to be confirmed nearer the time.
For those of you travelling by bus or train, we will rendezvous at Costa Coffee at Waverley Train Station (Unit P1/P2 Princes Mall, 3 Waverley Bridge). If anyone is driving, there is currently free on-street parking in the New Town and we can meet you somewhere en route!
This is a meet-up of 3 parts:
1. Photowalk around the New Town/Stockbridge/Dean Village area with a stop for lunch.
2. Private Viewing of ‘Capture to Canvas’ - a joint show by Shona Perkins and Fee Dickson Reid combining creative photography and contemporary art, exhibiting at Gallery Close situated in the heart of Edinburgh's Gallery District and historic Georgian New Town, where Shona will give an informal presentation.
3. Shona will join us at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh (RBGE) for after dark festive fun at the Christmas Light Trail! Tickets cost £22.50 per person (£3 discount available to RBGE members) and can be booked via the website: https://www.rbge.org.uk/whats-on/christmas-at-the-botanics/. Please select the 18:15 slot at the West Gate (Arboretum Place).

If you haven't yet done so, find out more about Shona, her experiences, what drives her and how she got to where she is now by listening to the SHECLICKS WOMEN IN PHOTOGRAPHY PODCAST: Finding Calm Through Coastal ICM Photography (https://www.sheclicks.net/podcast/shona-perkins).
‘Capture to Canvas’ is open from Saturday 30th November to Friday 6th December, so if you are in or around Edinburgh, but aren’t able to join us on 1st December, do go and check it out.'
Please meet at the entrance to the gardens at 09:00. At 12:00, we will reassemble at the Food Hall (it's to the far right after you come through the entrance) for an early lunch and a festive treat or two. It's not compulsory to bring treats, but if you'd like to bring some along, that would be lovely!
This isn't an RHS photographers' morning so the opening time is 9am. Everyone is welcome. As 'Glow' is on at the garden, we may get kicked out at 15:30 unless you have a ticket for that special event, but the closing time is showing as 16:30 on the website.
There's no need to book in advance to get into the garden during the day, but if you want to here's the link: https://www.rhs.org.uk/.../articles/visiting-the-garden
No meet-up in your area? Why not host one? Hosting a meet-up is easy. Just decide where you would like to photograph, pick a date and time, and then email Angela to receive a form to complete to let her know the details. Then all you need to do is be there at the appointed time.
Locations with good transport links, easy access to toilets and a convenient place for tea/coffee, snacks and/or lunch are usually favoured.
