The Hasselblad XCD 3,4/75P lens

Hasselblad has announced the XCD 3,4/75P, a new addition to its XCD Portable (P) lens series and the lineup’s first standard lens. With a 59mm full-frame equivalent focal length and the largest aperture in the XCD P series at f/3.4, this lens is billed as a versatile tool for photographers seeking high performance in a lightweight, compact form. Its premium optics and unique portability make it ideal for portraits, street photography and still life, combining Hasselblad’s renowned image quality with easy handling.

The XCD 3,4/75P lens features a ten-element, ten-group construction, including one aspherical and three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements to reduce chromatic aberrations. This optical engineering is claimed to ensure outstanding sharpness and vibrant, lifelike colours across the frame. Designed to complement Hasselblad’s 100-megapixel sensors, the lens is said to excel in rendering rich detail and tone, even at its widest f/3.4 aperture, making it a good choice for low-light portrait work.

With its 75mm focal length (59mm equivalent in 35mm photography terms), the XCD 3,4/75P is especially suited to shooting full-body and half-length portraits. The lens’s maximum aperture creates soft, natural bokeh, adding depth and separating the subject from and its background.

Weighing just 398g and measuring only 71mm in length, the XCD 3,4/75P is portable without, Hasselblad claims, compromising on build quality. It features a metal body, highlighted by Hasselblad’s signature “H” pattern around the focus ring.

The XCD 3,4/75P is equipped with a linear stepping motor with a small focusing group, for fast, precise focusing. It's also compatible with Hasselblad’s X and V System cameras with phase detection (PDAF) support ensuring smooth, quiet, and reliable focus for both stills and video.

The built-in leaf shutter is said to operate with minimal vibration and noise, allowing photographers to capture images in quieter environments. It also enables shutter speeds up to 1/2000s and full flash sync at all speeds, the XCD 3,4/75P is capable of freezing high-speed action or using flash creatively to control light, even under bright conditions.
